Menopause Consult

The menopause is a natural phase in a woman’s life, and occurs on average between the ages of 40 and 60 and lasts about 4-10 years. During this transitional phase (perimenopause), the supply of egg cells run out and hormone levels gradually adjust to this. This causes your periods to become irregular and eventually stop altogether. The last menstruation is called the menopause. The menopause is on average around the age of 50. In 80% of women, the (peri)menopause is accompanied by serious complaints. This can even lead to personal (physical) problems, work-related absence and relationship problems. Hormone Check

Hormones are an important part of who we are as women. Under the age of forty, various hormone disruptions can occur. At AAYA, we guide our clients with various questions in this area. The Hormone Check is a balanced combination of blood tests, measurements, lab research and consultations: an intake with our lifestyle doctor and results consultation with our gynaecologist. With this we map your health, lifestyle and hormone levels and offer personalized advice. Everything in our body is ‘connected’. Some complaints are caused by fluctuating hormones, others by lifestyle. In addition, small lifestyle adjustments can often reduce hormonal complaints. We will personally advise you in the areas of nutrition, exercise, stress management, and possibly supplements.

Consult Gynaecologist

€In addition to our Hormone Check (<40 years) and Menopause Consultation (>40 years), we also have a Gynaecologist Consultation. This consultation is a 1-on-1 consult with our gynaecologist (Marèse Bulstra) and is intended for more information, a second opinion or questions. These can be questions about your menstrual cycle, fertility, menopause or other gynaecological complaints.

Our Gynaecologist

Drs Marèse Bulstra-Ramakers (1956) trained as a physician at the University of Groningen. After her medical studies, she followed the speciality training to become a gynaecologist at the Academic Hospital Groningen and Diakonessenhuis in Utrecht. From 1989 to 1998 she worked as a gynaecologist at the Bleuland Hospital (now Groene Hart Hospital) in Gouda and from 1998 to April 2022 at the Diakonessenhuis in Utrecht. Her area of ​​expertise is benign gynaecology. Benign gynaecological disorders, such as menstrual and pelvic floor complaints and menopause problems. In recent years, she has focused intensively on menopausal complaints. Ten years ago, she set up a Menopause Outpatient Clinic at the Diakonessenhuis in Utrecht. Marese retired from the Diakonessenhuis in April 2022. But there was one thing she really wanted to work on: menopause problems.
